570 East 137th Street Receives an FDNY Letter of Recommendation for ARCS

We received another FDNY stamp of approval, this time for our Auxiliary Radio Communication System at 570 East 137th Street in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. RF Solutions presided over the smarts and parts of the project, but our partners ensured the system was installed correctly and met all FDNY standards. The project turned out to be a great success due to the dedication and teamwork of the skilled craftspeople – project managers, engineers, expeditors, architects, installers, and electricians – required to bring an ARCS project from initial FDNY plan filing to FDNY inspection. Of course, a successful outcome predicated on cooperation, collaboration and coordination would not have been possible without the synergistic relationship between Apple Security, our client partner, and RF Solutions. We are grateful to have a like-minded partner such as Robert Moriarty, President of Apple Security.

With almost 20% of New Yorkers over the age of 60, NYC recognizes the need to provide affordable housing for this population. Known as Mill Brook Terrace, the project was part of NYCHA’s NextGen initiative. The city agency partners with private companies to develop housing on open space in existing public housing projects. The projects are leased by NYCHA for 60 years, ensuring their affordability for decades to come. NYCHA worked with the West Side Federation of Senior and Supportive Housing to develop Mill Brook Terrace. Perkins Eastman designed the nine-story, 169-unit building, which includes a second-floor terrace and an outdoor garden. There is a 9,000-square-foot senior center on the ground floor that has a commercial kitchen, social service classrooms, and hair and bathing services. Other amenities include a 24-hour attended lobby, laundry on each floor, and built-in air conditioners in each apartment.
