Technical Project Manager
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Technical Project Manager at our in-building wireless solutions firm. You will play a vital role in supporting our engineering and technical teams in the successful execution of life safety and cellular DAS projects.
RFS normal business hours are M-F 8:30am to 5:30pm, EST, at our office or working remotely. Field work may require 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on site. You will be working in a fast-paced environment and must have the ability to meet deadlines and create high-quality deliverables with minimal supervision.
As a Technical Project Manager, your primary responsibility will be to work closely with senior project managers, providing coordination, scheduling, and management support for multiple projects simultaneously. Your responsibilities will include providing oversight and management of DAS installations by subcontractors or clients. This includes hands on training using best practices for cable connections/terminations, antenna mounting, and other install related tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or construction management, or related field from an accredited university is required (Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management is preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a managerial position or other administrative role.
- Basic knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
- Experience with low voltage or electrical installations at active construction sites.
- Knowledge of RF Communication Systems:
- Understanding of RF communication principles, protocols, and standards.
- Knowledge of public safety communication systems, private land mobile radio services, and in-building cellular coverage.
- Understanding of RF equipment and tools, such as antennas, ampifiers, repeaters, and testing instruments.
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30 plus 10 Certification
- Proficient with Microsoft Office:
- Includes Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel.
- Technical Skills:
- Must be able to properly terminate RF coaxial cables and properly connect low-voltage wiring.
- Ability to sweep and test cables.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans and system construction drawings, technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
- Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in the diagnosis and help to resolve RF equipment issues.
- Ability to perform tests and recommend corrective actions for system optimization.
- Communication Skills:
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, engineers, and clients.
- Able to compose professional emails, messages, and other written documents with accuracy and clarity.
- Task & Time Management
- Excellent organizational and time managment skills are vital.
- Able to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Safety Awareness:
- Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines while working at heights or in confined spaces, if required.
- Understanding of safety regulations and the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Responsibilities
- Project Coordination
- Assist senior project managers in coordinating project activities, ensuring that technical tasks are completed, and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth project execution and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Installation and Commissioning:
- Verify system installations of distributed antenna systems (DAS) adhere to system design, ensure proper antennna placements and mounting, best practices are being followed.
- Review and validate cable test results, grid test results including audio files, and survey reports.
- Analyze test results to identify system performance issues; coordinate corrective actions recommended by field technicians.
- Documentation and Submittals:
- You will be expected to familiarize yourself with municipal and agency requirements governing wireless system deployments.
- You will be expected to know local and regional carrier standards for coverage and required frequency bands.
- Compile carrier design packages for approval.
- Subcontractor Management:
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials, adherence to project schedules, and quality workmanship.
- Maintain effective working relationships with subcontractors and address issues that may arise during the project.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during system equipment installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Project Execution:
- Monitor project schedule, track milestones and project deliverables. Identify risks and propose resolutions.
- Assist Project Managers to ensure projects are completed within specified timelines and budgets.
- Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Provide updates on project progress, address concerns, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Site Visits and Travel:
- Be prepared to travel locally to project sites as required. Conduct site visits to assess feasibility, coordinate installation activities, and oversee project implementation.
